A line is a phone you can check.

Each Ostra line is one physical iPhone with one SIM, assigned to you alone. You get its number, its proxy ports and a page that says whether it is working, from a probe through its port about once a minute.

Every account gets the dashboard, with the sandbox line. Each line you order appears in it when it is assigned to you.

Ostra sends a probe through the line’s port about once a minute. It reads Working only while a probe went through in the last 3 minutes and left from Verizon’s network.

The line page, drawn with sample data: a documentation address and a fictional number, not a real line. When a line is not working, the same column says what Ostra is doing about it and what you can do.

What comes with a line

Everything below belongs to the one line, for as long as it is yours. Nothing is shared with another customer.

Its number
The SIM’s own mobile number. Texts and calls to it reach you; it never texts or calls anyone. When the line ends, the number is deleted and never given to another Ostra customer.
Three proxy ports
HTTPS with a username and secret. SOCKS5 and HTTP for the source addresses you list. Ports by line ID
Its exit address
On the line’s carrier network, IPv4 and IPv6.
A new carrier IP
On request, within the line’s limits. Ostra’s recovery can also use one when the line loses IPv4 or IPv6. How it works
Connection records
Every connection the line made while it was yours: time, your client’s address, destination host and port, and bytes. Export them for your own compliance review.
The API and webhooks
The line’s status and its texts and codes, from your code or your agent. Its calls the same way. API and MCP

The line page

One page per line in the dashboard. It answers first whether the line is working, then lets you act on it.

  • Status, with its evidence

One word for its state, the same in the dashboard, the apps and the extension: Working, Down, No recent probe or Suspended, with when a probe last went through and the exit addresses it saw. A line without a confirmed probe in the last 3 minutes never reads Working. When it is not working, the page says what Ostra is doing and what you can do.

    Overview
  • Texts and calls, closed until opened

Newest first, with the latest code on top. Who sent it or called, and when; a text’s body and a call’s keyed digits stay closed until someone on your team opens them, and the opening is recorded. A code Ostra read is shown for 15 minutes. With ringing turned on in a browser, calls to the line ring the dashboard there.

  • Connection records

    Records
  • A new carrier IP, with its limits in view

It asks first and names the limits: one every 5 minutes, 24 in any 24 hours, and none for an hour after one that left the line much slower. Over them, it says when the next is allowed.

  • Access

The HTTPS username and a new secret when you need one (shown once). The addresses SOCKS5 and HTTP answer.

The line report

What the line is and what the internet sees about it. Each answer is shown as its source gave it.

Number
Line type and carrier, as the number lookup reports them.
Exit address
The IPv4 and IPv6 address and the network that owns each, seen through the line.
Reputation
Whether the address is on a public blocklist. A listing reaches Ostra’s abuse desk first, then you.
Your browser
Ostra’s check page, opened through the line, shows what your own browser sends. It describes your browser, not the line.

The sandbox

LAX-SANDBOX-00 is a simulator for building against the API before a line is yours. It has no phone, no SIM and no proxy, so no traffic leaves through it. Its addresses are documentation addresses, and its texts come from the simulator when you ask for one.

Who can use it
Every account, verified or not, from the day it opens.
What it is not
A trial line. Ostra has no free or trial lines. 2.6 No trial lines

Who gets a line

Individuals and businesses in the United States, once Ostra’s sign-up check approves them, for one stated use per line. There is no fixed number of lines: order as many as are ready, and an order that would take you above 5 lines is checked by a person at Ostra first.

  1. Your own service

An account, service, domain or app you or your business owns or operates.

  2. Written permission to test

A service whose operator has given you written permission to test it.

  3. The line’s own number

Codes that confirm the number Ostra issued to you.

A line that is ready is assigned at once; otherwise the order waits for a line to be provisioned, and nothing is charged until one is assigned. Create an account, or read Verification.
