Apps and extension
Put a whole device on your line, or just one browser. Every Ostra app shows the line’s texts and codes as they arrive, and calls to the line ring the iPhone app.
What each one puts on the line
| Install | What goes through the line | Texts and codes | Calls to the line | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Browser extensionChrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, Firefox | That one browser. The rest of the computer is untouched. | Latest codes, with copy | The call log, with a notification | With every line |
| Ostra for iPhone | The whole iPhone | Inbox per line, with push | Ring live in the app | With every line |
| Ostra for Mac | The whole computer, Safari included | Inbox per line | The call log, with a notification for a missed call | With every line |
| Proxy portsNothing to install | Each program you point at a port | By API and webhook | By API and webhook | With every line |
Everything you install is Ostra’s own app, signed in as a person on your team. Each device is registered to that person, and removing the device or the person cuts it off.
The Ostra browser extension
One browser on the line, the rest of the computer on its own network. For testers who live in a browser.
- Browsers
- Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera from one build; Firefox from its own.
- How it connects
- Through the line’s HTTPS port, with its own short-lived credential. It never holds the line’s secret.
- What it can see
- The addresses it sends to the line. It cannot read or change the pages you open, and it does not fill codes into sites.
- In its popup
- The line, its address and carrier, and the latest codes with a copy button. A new carrier IP with the wait before the next.
- Calls
- The line’s calls, each closed until you open it, and a notification while one rings. A call’s code shows beside the codes from texts. You answer in the Ostra iPhone app or the dashboard.
Ostra for iPhone
One tap puts the whole iPhone on the line you pick, so every app on it uses that line’s carrier connection: the network your users are on.
- Lines
- Your lines with their status, carrier and addresses, and a New carrier IP button.
- Inbox
- Texts per line with codes highlighted and a copy button. A notification for each new text; showing the code in it is your choice.
- Calls
- Calls to the line ring the iPhone for up to 60 seconds, with the caller’s number, or the name your team gave it. Each line’s calls are listed with any code the caller keyed. Voicemail on a line with transcription turned on.
- Sign-in
- Your Ostra account: type the 6-digit code Ostra emails you. Signing out removes this iPhone’s access.
Ostra for Mac
The whole Mac on the line: native apps, desktop tools and every browser, Safari included.
- In the menu bar
- The connected line and its address, at a glance.
- Inbox and calls
- The same inbox as the iPhone app, and each line’s calls, with a notification for a call nobody answered. Calls ring in the iPhone app and the dashboard.
- Mac
- Built from the same code as the iPhone app.
Not on the list
- A Safari extension
- Not planned. On a Mac, the Mac app is the way to put Safari on the line.
- Linux
- Not planned. The proxy ports work from any computer.
- Android
- Not planned.
